Hello Visitors!

Sadly, because of all that Google (and other) Reader goodness, my visitor numbers are down dramatically! But it's still fun to see where people are from. Over the past few months I had one visitor each from the following countries:

Indonesia, Latvia, Estonia, Mongolia, Kazakstan, Kuwait, Slovenia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Vietnam.

Back on the Quilting Horse

In a bid to finish my Charity quilt in the evenings of the days running up the the charity auction, I have thrown all caution to the wind and got out the sewing machine.

I had been wary of this because it is my right foot that I broke and this is the one I need to operate the petal of my machine. But much to my relief, it's working well, not too strenuous and I'm half-way through the quilting. I should be able to finish it tonight, leaving THU and FRI night for the binding.

Let's hope I manage to snap a photo before we head off to auction.

Maths & Men's Shirts: Shall I join?

Anita from the Bloomin' Workshop is thinking of hosting a recycling quilt-a-long. I think that is a brilliant idea because - look at my UFOs and Fabric Addiction list - I have a ton of shirts AND a plan for them, for three years and four months now.

Wanna find out more about the Quilt-a-long, go here: http://bloominworkshop.wordpress.com/.

My first Granny Square

Since I can't yet put sufficient weight onto my foot and really want this appendage to get very well as soon as possible, I am staying away from the sewing machine. Instead I am crocheting some more.

A project I just started has quickly fallen to the wayside and replaced by a steadily growing Granny Square. Tiffany knows how to do them and she taught me with help of YouTube tutorials:

Inspiration for my Disappearing Nine Patch

This mini quilt has similar colours but Tammy added cream to the mix. I will pick up on that idea and am sure it will add interest to what previously seemed rather dull.

I know someone cool!!!

This is my former co-worker and friend Antonio's dining room. He used to be a Director of Food & Beverage in several large hotels around the globe, Hong Kong. You should have seen his portfolio! Not only is he the only F&B directors with a portfolio of large glossy photos of decorations, but oh-my-Lord! He did one function where the decorations budget alone was 600.000$ (yes, six hundred thousand dollars for decorations).

For a while, Antonio was doing concepts for new hotel restaurants, he designed the new uniforms at the hotel where we both worked and did other design related work. Because he liked it so much, he did a Master Degree in Interiour Design and this is the result.

Isn't he the coolest?

Eight Days from Beginning to End

It took me eight days to use up two skeins of 160m, two of 120m and four of 70m plus a little white yarn extra. In the beginning, I had to frog one evening's work because it was wonky (I wasn't paying enough attention to the tutorial video and the thing kept increasing in width, not good!).

I still need to measure the finished product but it's wide and long enough to be a shawl that keeps me warm on evenings spent on my terrace.
